Entry and residence

Visa, passport, vaccination required at the border, customs and consular assistance. Rules depend on your nationality: each point says who it applies to.

Visa

  • A visa is required. Get it online (evisa.gov.zw, pre-registration strongly recommended) or on arrival, usually for 30 days, paid in US dollars cash in small notes (roughly 30 USD single entry, 45 double entry). The KAZA visa also covers Zambia and day trips to Botswana.

  • Passport: United States

    A visa on arrival at airports and borders for tourism: USD 30 for 30 days (single entry), USD 45 for 45 days (double entry), USD 160 for 12 months (multiple entry).

    A tourist visa is required, issued at the border (airport or land): 30 days, extendable twice up to three months; USD 30 single entry, USD 45 double entry. The KAZA Univisa also covers Zambia (30 days, USD 50).

Customs and currency

  • Duty-free allowance of 200 USD per person (alcohol limited to 5 litres including 2 of spirits); honey, drugs and pornographic publications banned; import licence for medicines. Declare your foreign currency on arrival: exports are capped at 2,000 USD and any excess may be confiscated.
