Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, TogoCitizens of ECOWAS states enter without a visa for stays of up to 90 days, through an official border post, with a valid travel document and an international vaccination certificate; beyond that, an extension must be requested from the authorities. Since Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger withdrew (29 January 2025), ECOWAS has maintained this right for their citizens until further notice. Each state keeps the right to refuse entry to anyone inadmissible under its law.

Your passport must be valid for more than 6 months (after arrival according to France and the UK, after exit according to Canada).

Vaccination required at entry
A yellow fever certificate is required if you arrive from a risk country, including after a mere airport transit there (babies aged 9 months or under are exempt). France strongly recommends vaccination for everyone.

Customs and currency
On entry, declare goods in detail and any currency above one million CFA francs. Prohibited: drugs, pornographic or subversive publications. Weapons and radio transmitters require Interior Ministry authorisation.
