Traffic drives on the left. A licence in English is accepted; otherwise get an international driving permit before departure (not available locally). Without it, rental car insurance may be refused. Legal blood alcohol limit: 0.079%.

Driving locally
Fatal accidents are common, often due to speed on gravel roads and often with no other vehicle involved: check that your rental insurance covers them. Assistance is almost non-existent outside Windhoek.
