Practical guides: Mozambique

Entry and residence

Visa, passport, vaccination required at the border, customs and consular assistance. Rules depend on your nationality: each point says who it applies to.

Visa

  • For tourist or business stays of up to 30 days, apply online at evisa.gov.mz at least 5 working days before departure and pay online (about 40 euros or 47 USD); keep the receipt. The stamp is issued on arrival on presentation of supporting documents (return ticket, paid accommodation, means of support).

  • For a family visit, a visitor visa must be obtained before departure; the host must register the visitor with immigration (SENAMI) within 5 days.

Because of problems with the e-visa website, no visa is currently required for tourism or business; an invitation letter is still required, along with a return ticket and hotel booking. Beyond 30 days, an extension is generally needed.
