Getting around
Driving licence, road conditions, public transport and domestic flights.
Public transport
France and Belgium advise against private minibuses (tro-tros), and Canada notes their high accident record. The UK points out that their drivers, like those of app-based taxis, are not centrally licensed.
Driving licence
- Passport: France
A French licence is not accepted: you need an international driving permit, obtained before departure (on the ANTS website in France).

Driving locally
Carry your licence and vehicle papers (insurance, inspection); comprehensive insurance is strongly advised. Helmets are compulsory on two-wheelers. After an accident, stay and call the police; if witnesses become aggressive, go to the local police post.
