A French licence is recognised for 185 days after entry; beyond that, it must be exchanged at the Directorate General of Road Transport (Tira Chapéu, Praia).

Driving locally
After an accident, call the police and wait for their report before moving the vehicles; get a medical certificate for any injury. There is no roadside assistance.
