Practical guides: Cameroon

Retirement

Receiving your pension while living in Cameroon, and Cameroonian pension rights. For health and insurance, see also the Health guide.

Some points in this guide concern ties with France (social security, taxes, pensions, French schools) and are labelled as such. If another country's system applies to you, ask your own bodies (social security, pension fund, tax authority) and your country's embassy whether an agreement exists with this destination and what it provides.

French pension

  • Pensioners receiving a French pension, whatever their nationality

Every year, a life certificate must be sent. It is completed by the competent local authority of your country of residence and returned within 2 months; otherwise pension payments are suspended. The "Mon certificat de vie" mobile app lets you do it without travelling.

  • Passport: Cameroon, France

Under the France-Cameroon agreement, each country pays the pension for the periods contributed there, and pensions can be paid in the other country.
