Driving locally
Apart from the RN2 (Brazzaville-Ouesso) and RN1 (Brazzaville-Pointe-Noire), roads are barely usable, especially in the rainy seasons (October to December, March to May). A 4x4 is advised outside towns. Fuel shortages can occur.
Seat belts front and back, helmets on motorbikes, no drink-driving. Other drivers often ignore traffic rules: drive defensively with doors locked.
Other transport
The Pointe-Noire-Brazzaville passenger train is strongly advised against until rehabilitation works are completed.
